Outside In $9.19 ChÉrie Witkowski is twelve and she doesn’t want to turn thirteen this year. This is the year 1968 that everything — absolutely everything-seems to be changing. At home her parents are expecting a new baby her mother is fixing up the house so they can sell it and move who-knows-where and everyone is starting to tease her about the boy next door. Meanwhile her newspaper route brings the changes of the outside world crashing in on her: the Vietnam War the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the disappearance of a girl from a few towns away — a girl who more braids like ChÉrie who was about the same age as ChÉrie who could have been ChÉrie. Suddenly ChÉrie is scared; nothing seems safe and simple anymore. She longs for easier fears-for playing hide-and-seek in the dark skipping school daredevil bike tricks..She builds her own inside world: an elaborate elf house under a bush complete with staircases elevators and carefully designed furniture. But you can’t keep the outside world away forever especially when you’re delivering the daily paper. And maybe ChÉrie has the strength to deal with it after all and even to change some of the bad to good… |

Babes In Captivity $0.01 They’ve satisfied their biological clocks. They met six years ago in a mom’s group. Deirdre, Juliette, Anne, and Lisa are each living The Dream in the suburbs outside of New York City: beautiful wedding, big house, picture perfect family. What more could a woman want? Plenty, though none of them has ever admitted it. Out loud, anyway. It all starts with Deirdre….When she learns that her ex-lover, musician Nick Ruby, has moved back East, she confides in her girlfriends that she regrets her lost singing career, and her lost love affair with Nick. And since there doesn’t seem to be a “what’s next” in her life, she’s more than a little curious about “what if…?” So what’s that ticking sound? Deirdre’s confession — and her plan to revive her dreams and make them reality — has a startling ripple effect. It turns out none of the four is as happy as she seems: Anne fears her marriage is in jeopardy. Juliette desperately wants to have another baby but can’t. And Lisa’s facing decisions that her life — literally — depends on. The doors swing wide when these babes start breaking out…but at what price? There’s no satisfaction guarantee for any one of them, but taking chances together sure beats going it alone. |

The Kennedy Detail: JFK’s Secret Service Agents Break Their Silence $18.68 THE SECRET SERVICE. An elite team of men who share a single mission: to protect the president of the United States. On November 22, 1963, these men failed—and a country would never be the same. Now, for the first time, a member of JFK’s Secret Service detail reveals the inside story of the assassination, the weeks and days that led to it and its heartrending aftermath. This extraordinary book is a moving, intimate portrait of dedication, courage, and loss.Drawing on the memories of his fellow agents, Jerry Blaine captures the energetic, crowd-loving young president, who banned agents from his car and often plunged into raucous crowds with little warning. He describes the careful planning that went into JFK’s Texas swing, the worries and concerns that agents, working long hours with little food or rest, had during the trip. And he describes the intensely private first lady making her first-ever political appearance with her husband, just months after losing a newborn baby. Here are vivid scenes that could come only from inside the Kennedy detail: JFK’s last words to his tearful son when he left Washington for the last time; how a sudden change of weather led to the choice of the open-air convertible limousine that day; Mrs. Kennedy standing blood-soaked outside a Dallas hospital room; the sudden interruption of six-year-old Caroline’s long-anticipated sleepover with a friend at home; the exhausted team of agents immediately reacting to the president’s death with a shift to LBJ and other key governmental figures; the agents’ dismay at Jackie’s decision to walk openly from the White House to St. Matthew’s Cathedral at the state funeral. Most of all, this is a look into the lives of men who devoted their entire beings to protecting the presidential family: the stress of the secrecy they kept, the emotional bonds that developed, the terrible impact on agents’ psyches and families, and |

Question for those just getting your baby to sleep in his bed.?
Do you let your baby nap / bed for the day you're still teaching them to sleep in the / her bed at night? My son has slept all night in his crib since Friday because I put it in the cradle of all naps on Friday and throughout the weekend. I'm sure you understand who sleeps in his crib at night. Do you think it is too early to allow him to nap in my bed or his momentum during the day? He is 4-1/2 months, weighs 16 pounds and is 26.5 inches long. It is a great boy! Ok My question is not really related to security. If my baby falls asleep in my bed is usually because I had cared for him and sit beside me. So … I think my question is about to confuse the baby from time to time let me nap in my bed. I let him nap in his swing, because I do not see anything wrong with him if he likes and is comfortable — Again, I'm in the same room to watch.
What a guy! It sounds good and is good to have a good bed as well. I think you should do what is working for you and if it stops working and then change it. I found that my baby very well in her crib at night, but for some reason she did not like to nap in his crib, so I would make him nap in his car seat or a swing. This is what worked for us.
